Scullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) is an herb with a long tradition of use. Scutellaria (Scutellaria ) is an extensive genus of herbs from the Scutellaria family and includes several species of Scutellaria. The Baikal pinecone (scutellaria baicalensis) is a bit more well-known, but studies have confirmed that the varieties of Scutellaria Lateriflora, scutellaria racemosa and scutellaria alpina contain a comparable content of substances such as the flavonoids baicalin, baicalein, scutellarin, wogonin, luteolin and many others. However, a big difference can be found in the distribution of the content of these substances between the root part and the above-ground part. The root part contains the most baicalin and wogonoside, while much less is found in the aerial parts. Conversely, the content of the flavonoid luteolin and luteolin 7-glucoside is incomparably higher in the above-ground parts of the pine cone than in the root. In the case of luteolin, the content is 2.6 - 7 times higher in the aerial parts of the plant than in the root, depending on the growing conditions and the age of the harvested plant. In the case of luteolin 7-glucoside, the content in the aerial parts is even 2.6 - 25 times higher than in the root. The content of another flavonoid, verbascoside, is relatively comparable in the part of the root, stem and leaves. Since this product contains the above-ground parts of the pine cone plant, it is more focused on the total polyphenol content and as a source of luteolin. Although it also contains flavonoids baicalin and wogonoside, their content is much smaller than in the case of pine cone root extract. This cone is carefully tested and manufactured to the highest quality standards.
